Export your catalog and dry-run a file before importing it
The versioned file format, whole-file validation, the fingerprint, and what a dry run does not do.
Updated
The catalog export is a versioned JSON file with products, their retail/sale price and their variants. Product keys are the shop-stable product references. Costs, provider credentials and customer data are never exported, and a product that cannot be represented faithfully is reported as skipped with a reason instead of being silently changed.
- Currency
- The file and every price must use the shop currency. A different currency is rejected.
- Product key
- Letters, digits, dot, dash or underscore. It must be unique inside the file.
- Variant identity
- SKU and option combination must be unique per product; duplicate SKUs or option combinations block the file.
- Opening stock
- Allowed only for a product without variants. It describes stock for a new SKU; it is not a command to reset sold stock.
- Size limit
- Up to 5,000 products and 100 variants per product in one file.
A dry run validates the complete file before anything is written. It returns every row-level problem, planned operations and a fingerprint of the normalized file. One invalid row blocks the whole file; nothing is partially accepted. Running the same file again produces the same fingerprint.
