Your storefront

Your domain and your search listing

Connect an address you own, and set the title and description that appear when your shop is found in search.

Updated

Two settings decide whether customers reach your shop at the address you want and find it under the name you want: the custom domain, and the SEO and metadata tab.

Connecting a domain is not a single switch. The address has to be proved yours, its DNS records have to point at the platform, and HTTPS has to be ready before the address can be activated. Until all of that is true the shop keeps answering on its current address, which is why a half-finished connection does not take the storefront down.

  1. Open Settings, then Website, then the Domains tab.
  2. Enter the address you own and start the connection. The screen shows it as Connection in progress while it is prepared.
  3. Add the DNS records it gives you at your domain registrar. Nothing activates until those records resolve.
  4. Wait for the ownership proof and the HTTPS readiness check to pass. Both are required before the address can be activated.
  5. Activate the address. The previous address keeps working during the switch and stops being the primary once the new one is live.
  6. Open the SEO & Metadata tab and set the site title and description — the two lines that appear in a search result.
  7. Check the address in a private window, because your own browser will keep showing the old one for a while.

A new domain does not make a shop findable on its own. Search engines need time to crawl the address, and the title and description are what they show in the meantime — so set those before you announce the new address, not after.
