The Dashboard

What the first screen after sign-in shows, and which number to look at when you only have a minute.

Updated

The Dashboard is the summary screen you land on after signing in, and it exists to answer one question: is today going as expected.

It reports on the same records the rest of the admin works from, so a number here and a row on the Transactions screen are the same fact counted two ways. If they ever disagree, the Transactions screen is the one to trust, because it lists the individual records the totals are built from.

  1. Sign in. The Dashboard opens by default.
  2. Read the money figures first — they are drawn from completed payments, so a booking that has not been paid for does not inflate them.
  3. Use the left navigation to move to the list behind any figure. Every group in the navigation maps to one screen.
  4. Change the date range on the report when you want a period other than today.
  5. Open Transactions and then the report menu for the detailed versions: a General report, an X-Report and a Z-Report for the day, and a Booking report.

A booking that has not been paid for does not appear in the money figures, and that is the difference most often mistaken for a bug. If three clients booked today and only two paid, the Dashboard shows two sales — the third is waiting, not missing, and it is visible on the appointment list with a status that says so.

Use the reports rather than mental arithmetic when a figure matters. The Dashboard answers "roughly how are we doing", and the detailed reports answer "what exactly happened" — they are built from the same records, so a disagreement means you are comparing two different periods.

The Dashboard is a reading screen, not a working one. Nothing on it edits a record; every action lives one click away on the screen that owns the record. That is deliberate — a summary you can accidentally change is not a summary.
